“PREPARE FOR BATTLE” bundle now includes GeForce GTX 1060: Free games for midrange Pascal

NVIDIA has some good for performance-mainstream gamers. According to its website, the company’s “Prepare for Battle” gaming bundle now includes the GeForce GTX 1060 graphics cards. What it means is that if you buy a GTX 1060, you also get to download a free copy of “For Honor” or “Ghost Recon: Wildlands” by using the promotional code. Prior to this, the “Prepare for Battle” bundle was exclusive to the GTX1080ti, GTX 1080 and GTX 1070 – the upper-tier Pascal based GPUs. So, it’s good to see the free goodness trickling down to the midrange of things. The offer is also available on laptops and pre-built systems equipped with aforementioned parts.

The GTX 1060 is arguably the best performer among the current breed of mainstream graphics cards. In Indian market, the full-fledged 6GB version goes for INR.24000, while the 3GB ones could be found around INR.18000. Since NVIDIA website doesn’t mention anything about a specific version, we are assuming that the offer is good for both. GTX 1060’s main competition comes in form of AMD Radeon RX 480, which after a long spree of price gouging seems to have settled around 22K-23K mark. If you’re on the fence on the question of your next graphics upgrade, the free games might just tip the scale in favor of the green camp – or at lest that’s what NVIDIA is hoping! This, however, leaves the value oriented Pascal cards like the GTX 1050/GTX 1050-Ti to be the only ones without any value (excuse the pun) addition. It will be great to see the budget segment getting some attentions too.

The games on offer are among recently launched tittles, both from Ubisoft’s stable. For Honor is hack n slash action game; set within a beautifully crafted fantasy-medieval world that provides plenty of eye-candy. Ghost Recon: Wildlands, on the other hand, is the latest installment of famed Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon games. It’s a tactical shooter with a vast and dynamic “open world” design – a new addition for this franchise. If you think it’s going to be tough decision between the two, you may be right – but hey, these are FREE!
